Super Bowl LV: How We Got There

In just under two weeks the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs will descend upon Tampa, Florida to take on the hometown Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl LV.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Green Bay Packers: Tom Brady was able to make his tenth Super Bowl thanks to a tremendous performance by his defense and a bunch of missed opportunities by the Packers. The Bucs were able to score a touchdown at the end of the first half following a pick by Rodgers and a missed defensive assignment in the Packers secondary that gave Tampa a 21-10 lead heading into halftime. The Packers also decided to kick a field goal to cut the lead down to five points, 31-26, with a little more than two minutes remaining in the game. The Packers would never get the ball back. This decision by Packers Head Coach Matt LaFleur was heavily criticized at the moment it happened and following the game.

The Tampa Bay defense also showed up big in the second half after three second half interceptions by Brady only resulting in six points for Green Bay. Rodgers was also sacked five times and harassed all afternoon by a Bucs defense that has carried the team throughout the playoffs.

Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs spotted the Bills a nine-point lead, as is customary in seemingly every Chiefs playoff game, but the game was never in doubt. The Chiefs dominated a really good Bills team on Sunday night as the Bills had no answer for the high flying KC offense. Even though the Chiefs struggled for long stretches of the regular season to close out inferior teams, and hung on for dear life to defeat the Cleveland Browns in the Divisional Round, the switch is flipped and the Chiefs are playing great football heading into Super Bowl LV.
