Predicting Winners In NFL Divisional Round

Los Angeles Rams vs. Green Bay Packers: This matchup will pit strength against strength. The Rams have the best defense in the entire league while the Packers have one of the most explosive offenses in the entire NFL. The only chance the Rams have to pull off a seismic upset against the prohibitive NFC favorites on the round is for their defensive line to wreak havoc all afternoon. This is the same formula L.A. used to disrupt Russell Wilson and the Seahawks just one week ago.

Jared Goff will be the Rams quarterback on Saturday, and Goff’s recent performances have been miserable, to put it mildly. Goff has five touchdown passes in his last six games. The Rams may have two of the best defensive players in the league, Jalen Ramsey and Aaron Donald, but it will not be enough against Aaron Rodgers and the Packers’ offense.

Prediction: Packers: 27 Rams: 17

Baltimore Ravens vs. Buffalo Bills: This is sure to be a great game between teams with Super Bowl aspirations. Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen are both playing great football heading into the game, which will lead to a boatload of points being scored on Saturday night. The Ravens have the best rushing attack in football, and Bills Defensive Coordinator Leslie Frazier will have his hands full trying to stop such a potent rushing attack. Buffalo must force Jackson to throw the ball because that is their best chance to win this game.

The game will boil down to which quarterback plays better down the stretch of this game. Allen has played better all season and will outduel Jackson in a great game.

Prediction: Bills: 34 Ravens: 30

Cleveland Browns vs. Kansas City Chiefs: This game is a huge mismatch on paper, but luckily for the Cleveland Browns, this game is played on the gridiron. Kansas City has struggled against inferior competition all season, and have limped to the finish line this regular season. Cleveland must use the two-headed monster at running back of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt to keep the game close and the Chiefs offense off the field. If Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield was more of a proven commodity, the Browns would have a real shot at pulling off the double-digit upset.

The Chiefs are certainly vulnerable, but the Browns are not the team to dethrone the defending champions.

Prediction: Chiefs: 34 Browns: 27

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New Orleans Saints: This is the third matchup this season between NFC south foes and Tom Brady against Drew Brees. The Saints won the first two matchups and dominated the Bucs both times as well. Plain and simple, it is too much to ask of New Orleans to defeat Tom Brady three times in a season. Brady getting a third look at this defense will lead to Brady playing the best game of the season against the Saints. Brady is the NFL’s hottest quarterback over the last five weeks, and since both secondaries are vulnerable, many points will be scored. At this point in his career, Brees cannot be counted on to outscore a red hot offense like Tampa Bay.

This game is sure to be high on nostalgia since this is almost certainly the last season of Brees’ illustrious career. The greatest player in this history of football will send Brees to retirement with a sour taste in his mouth.

Prediction: Buccaneers: 28 Saints: 24
