NFL Championship Weekend Predictions

Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Green Bay Packers: Two of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history, Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers, face off against one another for an opportunity to play in the Super Bowl. In week 6 Green Bay went down to Tampa, the sight of this year’s Super Bowl, and got embarrassed. Rodgers, who will be the NFL MVP, had the worst game of the season in the “Sunshine State” and lost 38-10. Rogers threw two interceptions and threw for a mere 160 yards with no touchdowns accounted for.

The Packers are the clear favorite to win the Super Bowl which means Tampa will have a tough test on Sunday afternoon. Tampa’s offense will need to be at their best because Tampa’s defense, even though highly skilled, will only be able to hold down the high-flying Packers offense for so long. Tampa had the top-ranked rushing defense in the regular season, and being able to hold the rushing attack of the Packers in check, will bode well for Tampa.

Brady, 43, has been outstanding this postseason but will have to raise his level of play against another all-time great. Rodgers has immense pressure on him to win this game due to the fact this may be Rodgers’ last chance to have such a great opportunity at winning a Super Bowl. Rodgers’ performances in the NFC Championship Game have been poor throughout his illustrious career, and the same will be true this time around.

Brady will continue to turn back the clock and outplay Rodgers as the Tampa defense will make life miserable for the Green Bay quarterback. Tampa will be the first team in NFL history to play in a Super Bowl in their home stadium.

Prediction: Buccaneers: 34 Packers: 31

Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs: As is the case in the NFC matchup, the AFC Championship Game is a regular season rematch. The Chiefs went on the road and defeated the Buffalo Bills 26-17 in week 6. Former MVP Pattrick Mahomes is banged up heading into the game. Mahomes had to leave in the third quarter and is still in concussion protocol. A neck and toe injury is also hampering Mahomes entering the game. Even though there is little doubt Mahomes plays, the issue is how effective Mahomes will be when he is on the field. The Chiefs have been sleepwalking this entire season as they have struggled to finish off inferior teams. The most recent example was just last weekend in the Divisional Round when the Chiefs defeated the Cleveland Browns 22-17.

The Bills are going to be a stiff test for the Chiefs and quarterback Josh Allen will need to outplay Mahomes. The Bills only had one called running play in the first half of the Ravens game last week and will need to have more balance on Sunday. The truth is Allen has been a better quarterback than Mahomes all season. The Chiefs are still living off last season's Super Bowl comeback, not how they have looked all regular season.

The Chiefs have been playing with fire all season by letting teams stay in games, but this time the Kansas City Chiefs will get burned.

Prediction: Bills: 38 Chiefs: 35
