NFC East Shaken Up After Week 14 Action

After a week where the NFC East had a record of 3-1, the New York Giants (5-8) are now in second place and looking up at the Washington Football Team (6-7) after week 14.

Both the Giants and Washington came off shocking wins in week 13. The Giants shocked the Seahawks on the road while Washington upended the previously unbeaten Pittsburgh Steelers on Pittsburgh’s home field.

The Giants hold the tiebreaker over Washington due to them sweeping the season series, but with the Giants embarrassing 26-7 home loss to the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, New York has to walk a fine line to win the NFC East.

The other two teams in the division, the Dallas Cowboys (4-9) and Philadelphia Eagles (4-8-1), both held up their ends of the bargain by winning on Sunday. The Cowboys defeated the lowly Cincinnati Bengals and the Eagles shocked the New Orleans Saints with Jalen Hurts now under center for Philadelphia.

Even though the Eagles and Cowboys both won on Sunday, they are out of the division race. In the last three weeks of the 2020 NFL season, the New York Giants and Washington will be fighting for the opportunity to host a playoff game on Wild Card Weekend.

In just a week the Giants’ playoff hopes have changed dramatically. The division looked like theirs to lose 24 hours ago, and now New York will need some help to make it into the playoffs.

New York Giants remaining schedule:

Dec. 20: vs. Cleveland Browns (9-3)

Dec. 27:@ Baltimore Ravens (7-5)

Jan. 3: vs. Dallas Cowboys (4-9)

Washington remaining schedule:

Dec. 20: vs. Seattle Seahawks (9-4)

Dec. 27: vs. Carolina Panthers (4-9)

Jan. 3: @ Philadelphia Eagles (4-8-1)
