Fissure Between Russell Wilson and Seattle Continues To Grow

The marriage between Russell Wilson and the Seattle Seahawks may be coming to an end sooner rather than later.

It was reported Thursday that Wilson’s camp has approached Seahawks management about possible trade destinations for the future Hall of Famer.

The relationship between Wilson and the team has continued to deteriorate due to Wilson feeling like he is not garnering enough respect from Head Coach Pete Carroll. Wilson has said just this offseason that he would like more of a say in free agency and the players the Seahawks target in the NFL Draft.

Wilson also allegedly stormed out of a meeting in November 2020 when his suggestions for how to approve a sluggish Seahawks offense were summarily dismissed.

Some of the teams on Wilson’s preferred destination list are the Las Vegas Raiders, New Orleans, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets.

The Seattle Seahawks would be making a franchise-altering mistake if they are unable to patch up the relationship with their star quarterback. Wilson has taken Seattle to heights they have never reached before, and may never reach again if they decide to move off Wilson.

Carroll was a twice-fired NFL coach and had two seasons with a 7-9 record before Wilson swooped in and changed the Seattle Seahawks franchise forever.

It would be a complete shame if ego, and unwillingness to give up some control, is the reason why the Seattle Seahawks decided to part ways with the best player in franchise history, and one of the best players in the National Football League.
